The First Nigerian Female Doctor of Philosophy Passes on

Professor Sophie Oluwole, the first Nigerian female Phd holder in philosophy has been pronounced dead.

Oluwole who was known for her Pan-African beliefs departed mother Earth at 83.

The confirmation of her death came through her colleague, Professor Yomi Akinyeye of the Department of History and strategic studies, University of Lagos.

It was made known that Oluwole died around 8pm on Sunday evening after a protracted illness.

She was a practitioner of Yoruba philosophy, values and heritage.
