Not fewer than ten U.N peacekeepers from Chad had been killed and about twenty-five of them injured while trying to repulse the assailants that attacked them very close to a village in the northern part of Mali on Sunday,

The United Nations affirmed that the peacekeepers had foiled the attack, but unfortunately 10 died and at least 25 were injured.

“The Secretary-General reaffirms that such acts will not diminish the resolve of the United Nations to continue supporting the people and Government of Mali in their efforts to build peace and stability in the country,” the organisation said.

The 2015 peace pact which was signed by Mali’s government and separatist groups has not been able to eradicate the savagery. The Jihadists have also been attacking neighboring areas such as Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
