Internationally Educated Nurses:

International applicants are required to complete the following application requirements.
Step 1: Evaluation completed by one of the four (4) evaluation companies: Your evaluation and English results should arrive to the board prior to submitting the Examination Application to the New Mexico Board of Nursing. You would want to communicate with the Credential Agency selected and request a notification that your evaluation is complete so that you know when it is time to proceed with the additional application requirements.

English proficiency, if applicable

Internationally educated nurses must demonstrate English Competency. This can be demonstrated through successful completion of an approved English Competency exam such as:

Successful completion of a nursing program that is given in English in another country or

A passing score on a nursing examination which is given in English in another country or agencies which indicates successful completion of TOEFL (minimum score of 540), TOEFL IBT (minimum score of 84 overall, with a minimum speaking score of a 26) TOEIC (minimum score of 725), or IELTS (minimum score of 6.5 overall, with 7.0 in the spoken portion)

Step 2: Criminal Back Ground.Please see above.
Step 3: Register for Pearson VUE.

You may register by telephone (1-866-496-2539) or by Internet (http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex) by using a valid credit card. Reminders are not sent out.

Step 4: Submit International Examination Application and fee. The New Mexico Board of Nursing (BON) only accepts on-line applications.

Once the file is reviewed and determined complete by the Board, you will receive your ATT from Pearson VUE. Your ATT will be sent by email from Pearson VUE. If an email is not provided it will be mailed to the address indicated at registration

Applications submitted in error OR not approved for eligibility are non-refundable.
