LAUTECH
Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday said the persistent strike action by workers at Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) will be resolved if ownership of the institution is transferred to the Oyo State Government.

Makinde spoke during a visit to LAUTECH to meet with all stakeholders of the institution.

The governor said his visit was to resolve the current crisis which resulted in strike action by staff since Monday, November 18, 2019.

“I assured them Oyo State would intervene in the current crisis so studies can resume if the various staff unions reach an agreement on how to utilise the intervention fund,” Makinde tweeted.

Makinde noted that their support is needed to implement a lasting solution to the university’s challenges and crises and that only he could proffer a lasting solution.

He, however, opined that “our proposal for sole ownership for LAUTECH is the solution the university needs.”

Makinde clarified that the proposal was not to spite Osun State whom Oyo State share ownership of the institution with, but a pragmatic solution the university needs.

The governor said Oyo State is financially prepared to shoulder the responsibility of the school if the proposal is granted.
