Gov. Buni Reacts As Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc In YobeYobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has expressed sadness over the unfortunate loss of life, injuries and damages caused by the heavy rainstorm in Damaturu and other parts of the state.

The governor expressed his feelings in a statement released on Tuesday through his Director General Media and Press Affairs, Mamman Mohammed.

The Governor, in the statement prayed for the repose of the soul that was lost in the storm and, to his family the fortitude to bear the loss. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those who sustained injuries.

“Governor Buni directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to ensure the treatment of all those injured and assess the level of damages for provision of assistance to the victims.“He has also directed the Yobe State Environmental Protection Agency to evacuate all drainages to ensure free flow of rain water as the rainy season sets in.

“His Excellency, the Governor called on the people to support government in the evacuation of the drains and cautioned against converting the drains into refuse dumps.

“Governor Buni also warned against construction of structures on waterways, urging the communities to monitor and report illegal structures blocking free flow of the rain waters in their areas,” the statement reads.
