Barr. Willie Amadi Reacts To New Imo State AJCL LawBarrister Willie Amadi

The Federal Commissioner representing Imo state in the Public Complaints Commission Nigeria, Barrister Willie Amadi has reacted to the newly signed Imo State Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ISAJCL) which gives the Governor express rights to arrest and detain an individual at his own pleasure and for as long as he wants.

He declared that the law does not in any way impede on the Fundamental Human Rights of any citizen and that it has been misunderstood by a lot of people.

He made this stand during a press conference he held at his office with NTA News Owerri on Tuesday.

As he fielded questions from journalists at the press conference, he assured them that the law does not in any way impede or clip on the rights of citizens in the state. He also assured them that those sections of the law have been hotly criticised by Imo State indigenes is currently being reviewed for amendment by the Imo State House of Assembly.

He also pleaded for leniency towards the new bill while highlighting some parts of it that were meant to protect special citizens like juveniles and mentally unstable people. He assured the journalists that despite the bill, law and order in the state would be maintained at all costs without trampling on the rights of any individual.
