Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2baba, has reacted to the criminal complaint filed against him and 49 others for supporting the EndSARS protests. An activist Kenechukwu Okeke, instituted a criminal suit against Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, Deji Adeyanju, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz, Yemi Alade, Idibia among others before the Federal Capital High Court in Abuja, FCT over the #EndSARS protests.

According to him, the protesters between October 28 and October 30, 2020 the defendants used their twitter accounts to conspire amongst themselves to “commit misdemeanor, to wit promoting or acting in such a manner with intent to assist in the promotion of an unlawful assembly under the guise or composition of #EndSARS”. Okeke claimed that the offence was punishable under Section 97 (2) of the Penal Code Act, C53 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as Tuface through his manager Efe Omorogbe, described the suit as a mere social media trend. “There’s no comment yet. We have not been served any paper. We have not received any formal summon.” He added that they cannot respond to the charge until they receive a summons from court.
“We can’t respond to what is merely trending on social media until we receive a summon we can’t respond,” he added.
The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi who is among those sued reacted to the development with what is described as “light-hearted” tweet: “Who sent this guy to file this frivolous lawsuit?”
Aisha Yesuf in a tweet said: “My Joy is that they got my name right and I am number one on the list. Thank You to #EndSARS protesters. I am honoured to be part of you all.”
Omoyele Sowere, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, former presidential aspirant and the leaders of #RevolutionNow condemned the suit saying that it is the handwork of the Buhari regime. Tweeting: “#EndSARS This is some joke carried too far, criminal complaints against #Endsars promoters by some marionettes controlled by @MBuhari regimes lobotomized clowns! Can we get a date, we will all be there and take it from there, enough is enough! #RevolutionNow.”
