600 Students Missing As Bandits Attack School In Katsina

No fewer than 600 out of the 800 students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State have been declared missing.

The students were reported missing after an attack by armed bandits on the school, Friday night.

A school teacher who confirmed the incident said the bandits launched the attack shortly after prep classes at 9:30pm.

The bandits reportedly shot sporadically in the air, causing commotion and stampede before scaling over the fence and breaking the school gate.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Gambo Isa, said a policeman sustained a gun injury when officers engaged the bandits.

He added that security has been beefed up around the area.
