President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday thanked the Chinese Government for building infrastructure in Nigeria.
Hailing China, Buhari noted that development will not be possible without infrastructure.
The President spoke on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja, when he received the State Councillor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Wang Yi.
‘We thank China for its support to us in various ways; in the building of rail, road, power, defence, and many others.’
‘You are helping us to reduce our severe infrastructural deficits, and we are glad. There cannot be sustainable development without infrastructural development,’ President Buhari said.
President Buhari further pledged that the country would continue to honour its obligations in the relationship with China, ‘as you are making a big difference, which we appreciate very much.’
On his part, the Chinese Minister Mr Wang Yi hailed the ‘mutual trust and sound personal friendship’ between the Nigerian leader and President Xi Jinping of China.
He said their friendship ‘has guided the bilateral relationship between the two countries.’
