In his reaction, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, when contacted by newsmen, disclosed that he was yet to receive an official briefing on the incident.

‘I’ve not been officially briefed, I will get back to you soonest’, the command’s spokesman said.

It would be recalled that the incident marks the third time in two weeks that the armed bandits attacked village markets in the state amid military operations in the area.

Less than two weeks ago, no fewer than 20 persons were killed when the assailants attacked the Ungwan Lalle market in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of the state.

Despite the efforts of the security agencies to curb banditry in northern Nigeria, the menace has continued to thrive leaving many stakeholders perplexed as to how to bring the ugly situation under reasonable control.
