Unity Remains Only Means Of Sustaining Nigeria – Group

The group also noted that for Nigeria as a country to achieve peace there must be an understanding amongst its citizens.

The group made their position known in a statement sent on Friday in Yenagoa.

Speaking through its South-South Coordinator, Ebitimi Jones, the group said the idea to make the Governor of Ekiti State, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, guest speaker at the 9th/10th edition of The Zik Memorial lecture at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, speaks volume of unity.

The statement reads ‘We the members of Good Governance and Democratic Agenda, with hundreds of members cut across the creeks of the Niger Delta, wholeheartedly thank the host Governor and Governors of the South East for opting for a detribalised and very patriotic Nigerian, Dr. Fayemi Kayode, who is also a symbol peace and unity as can be attested to, in his state (Ekiti) since he became Governor.

‘We also hail the South Easterners, particularly the people of Anambra State, for their Peaceful dispositions, before, during and after the epoch-making event.’

‘We, however, debunk the perceptions in some quarters that Nigeria is a mere geographical expression.’

‘We thereby laud the Nigeria Governor’s Forum under the Chairmanship of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for their display of Love, peace, unity and understanding, despite the curable epileptic economic challenges.’

The program was attended by many Nigerian dignitaries and politicians alike.
