Why IPOB Became Terrorist Organisation, Okorocha Explains
Senator Rochas Okorocha

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rochas Okorocha has given the reasons why he believes members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), became terrorists.

According to Okorocha who is also a presidential aspirant, IPOB became a terrorist group because it was not properly handled by the government from the very beginning of the agitations.

The former governor of Imo State made these assertions when he addressed State House Correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.

Okorocha said he, however, sees IPOB members as poorly educated children and not terrorists.

According to Okorocha: ‘There was no need to have handled the IPOB matter the way it was handled. Today they have turned out to be terrorists.

‘But for me, I don’t see them as terrorists. I see them as children who have not been properly educated on the happenings.’

Africa Today News, New York reports that members of IPOB have been agitating for the actualisation of Biafra in the Southeast.

Their agitation led to the arrest of the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya in June 2021 in a move which many of his followers have insisted is extra0rdinary rendition.

Kanu is presently facing terrorism charges before an Abuja Federal High Court under trial judge, Binta Nyako.

The charges were brought against him by the Nigerian Government.

His next appearance in court is on February 16th 2022.
